Liberal Democrat Targets

Despite losing vote share in 2017, the Liberal Democrats made a net gain of 4 seats. In many seats, they saw their share of the vote decline. In Fife North East and Richmond Park, the party finished within 100 votes of the victor and in Ceredigion, just 104. There are currently 10 constituencies in which the Liberal Democrats finished 10 percentage points or less behind the winning candidate. In 375 constituencies, the party's candidate achieved less than 5 per lost their deposit, it will be incredibly difficult for the Liberal Democrats to return a significant number of MPs at the next election but, there is still the possibility of localised gains

The UK's constituency boundaries were due to be redrawn in 2018 with the number of constituencies being reduced from 650 to 600. Following the result in 2017, it is currently unclear as to whether the changes will go ahead. If a general election were to be held in the imminent future, it is likely that it would be fought on the existing constituency boundaries. This list of target seats is based on the existing boundaries and will be updated when the situation becomes clear.
